Alden Mills graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he captained the Heavyweight Rowing Team (and learned a thing or two about cardio fitness!). Then came 7 years with the Navy SEALs, where physical fitness became, literally, a life or death matter.
As a SEAL Platoon Commander, Mills learned the value of Functional Training — mimicking the way you naturally move in your daily life, and in the sports you play — not in a single plane, as in traditional weight lifting, but in three planes: forward and back, left and right, and rotational. After the Navy, the entrepreneurial Mills got his MBA from Carnegie Mellon, before launching Body Rev, using the training principles he mastered as a SEAL.
Take It For a Spin! — Body Rev consists of an adjustable weight plate with free-rotating handles that adapt to your body’s natural movements — unlike ordinary bars and dumbbells. As you perform a series of overhead, rotational and side-to-side movements, three cylindrical weights let you vary the total weight from 4.5 to 9 lbs. It doesn’t sound like much, but follow Alden himself as he leads you through a 15-minute session on the included training DVD, and you’ll be begging for mercy!
