My Kids Laughed When I Mounted My Dream Machine — But Then I Began to Pull Ahead on the Straightaways!
If you're into spandex biking shorts, tight, garish jerseys, and ultra-stiff mountain bikes with Kryptonite frames - stop reading now. Or if you're into sitting around watching Merv Griffin (oops, I mean Oprah) all day, and letting your health decline, turn the page. But if you're into staying healthy, exercising your heart, rehabbing those aching knees - and having fun while you do it - keep reading!
All the Good, None of the Bad - Anyone who cares about staying fit knows that biking is one of the best forms of exercise. Not only does it keep your heart healthy and tune up your cardiovascular system, it's completely non-impact, so it's gentle on your joints. Biking builds strong legs and increases your stamina. And it absolutely helps to eliminate that stabbing pain in the knees caused by arthritic deterioration of cartilage behind your kneecaps (Chondromalacia Patella, a condition most of us who run, play tennis or golf are all too familiar with!). But ordinary bikes are just way too uncomfortable. Hard, narrow seats are completely insufferable, and reportedly cause soft-tissue damage in an important area of your anatomy - who needs that? High seats and low handlebars force an unnatural, bent-over position that strains your back, neck and wrists. Why not a bike with a comfortable seat, upright seating position, and a top-notch drivetrain that handles varied terrain? But a bike that doesn't look like an antique Schwinn Phantom, or a weird recumbent.
The Bike You Dreamed Of - The Dream Machine combines pleasing proportions, unique back support, and a wide comfortable seat, with the traditional balance of a mountain bike. Its elevated handlebars (adjustable through a wide range to fit riders 5'2" to 6'3"!) produce a natural, upright seating position you can maintain indefinitely, with a commanding view of the road ahead. A lightweight aluminum frame efficiently transfers pedal power to the pavement without flexing; 26" all-terrain Combi tires give a smooth ride on pavement or trails. Choose a thickly padded, oversized Super-Soft Velo saddle seat, or a 17" wide bench seat with no seat horn whatsoever. So you get two ways to achieve all-day comfort - with no male-anatomy-numbing side effects!
Safety - The Dream Machine's low step-through height and height-adjustable seat lets you reach the ground with both feet flat. So starting and stopping is a cinch, and falling is unlikely! A race-proven Shimano 21-speed derailleur lets you select just the right amount of effort and torque to master any grade. And unlike low-slung recumbents, Dream Machine's multiple low gears and upright pedaling position gives you plenty of leverage to pedal straight up the steepest hills with ease. Naturally, front and rear hand brakes provide plenty of stopping power. A capacious zippered pack easily stows a pullover, and enough food and drink for a picnic. And the brilliantly conceived, adjustable backrest gives you all-day lumbar support, and extra power for climbing hills.
At First They Laughed - So it's true that my kids laughed when I first pulled Dream Machine out of the garage. Then they saw how fast I could go, keeping up with their high-tech mountain bikes on paved roads. And how agile and adept Dream Machine looked as I carved around corners. And finally, they all wanted to try the unusually comfortable seat with the cool backrest - and guess what, they're not laughing anymore! Choose medium frame (for riders 4'8" - 5'6") or large frame (5'7" - 6'3"); and choose burgundy or cobalt blue metallic, and either oversized saddle or bench seating. Please add an additional $25 shipping to our normal S&H chart, due to size and weight.
"The Dream is the most easy riding and ergonomically correct bicycle I have experienced in 55 years of riding and working with them. When you couple this rider comfort with the top quality components and fine finish, you have a very desirable product." - Allen Jennings, Lakeland, Fl
