Start a Roaring Fire Without Messy Newspapers!
Here’s a true example of American entrepreneurial spirit. Brian Paulsen, a Herrington customer for years up in Minnesota, bought a home in the Northwoods with a stand of 60 majestic pine trees. To avoid dulling the blades on his mower, he picked up the fallen pine cones and stuck them in the garage. Later that winter while trying to start a fire, Brian didn’t have any kindling, and balled up newspapers weren’t working.
 So on a hunch he threw in a couple of pine pitch-laden pine cones and voilá — he had a roaring fire just like that. He told me the cones ignited “like a blow torch” in his fireplace! Then he reasoned they might deliver a more sustained release with a coating of candle wax, and Minnesota Fire Cones were born.
