New From Master Putter Maker Guerin Rife — The Barely Legal Mallet and its Outlaw Sidekick That Team Up to Help You Sink More Putts!
Over the years we’ve sold perfectly fine putters from Scotty Cameron, Odyssey, Callaway and Taylor Made. But I’ve never met a craftsman as passionate and dedicated to the art of perfecting the putter as Guerin Rife. He’s a fixture on the Champions Tour, where I first met him on the putting green at the Senior PGA Championship at Canterbury CC — working with Dana Quigley. Now Guerin’s achieved a real breakthrough with the Inline Momentum Mallet, or IMO.
With an imposing 85% of the clubhead’s mass positioned directly in line and behind the ball, the IMO demonstrates the uncanny stability you’d expect from the putter with the highest Moment of Inertia (or resistance to twisting, in plain English!) ever achieved. Beautifully cast in solid aluminum, with scalloped side wings that represent just 7.5% of total weight on each flank. And IMO is barely legal, measuring 4.75” wide and 4.6” deep — the USGA requires that all conforming putters must be wider from toe-to-heel than front-to-back. So Guerin pushed the limits with this nearly over-square design. And IMO rolls the ball immediately upon contact, thanks to its 6061 milled aluminum face, with RollGrooves that eliminate skidding and hopping.
Face-balanced, together with most of the mass in line with the ball, makes it dead simple to keep your stroke on plane. You actually have to try to pull or push a putt off line! Companion Rife IMO Trainer is considered ‘non-conforming’, or illegal by the USGA, as its 2” heel-to-toe width is less than the 4.6” depth. But it’s a great way to groove your stroke on the practice green. With literally 100% of the mass in-line behind the ball, you’ll stroke naturally along the target line, straight at the hole. And you’ll make an easy transition to Rife’s IMO putter out on the course!
