In 1945, Philip Murray started Murray’s Toggery Shop on Nantucket Island, which soon became known for its unique red sailcloth pants that faded to pink with every wash. Before long, these soft and comfortable pants became forever associated with the Nantucket experience. So Philip named and trademarked his pants as Nantucket Reds™, and Murray’s Toggery has remained a fixture on Main Street ever since. On our most recent trip to the Island, during our regular pilgrimage to the Toggery Shop, we spotted these whimsically distinctive shorts — with a familial connection to the original Murray clan.
 Legacy — Andrew and Matt Bridier grew up helping out at their grandfather’s store. When they came of age, and branched out to create Castaway Clothing, they preserved the family tradition for sturdiness, comfort and island-style.
