Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta, S.p.A, or simply “Beretta” to James Bond, “Q”, and other connoisseurs of quality, is the world’s oldest industrial firm, enduring for nearly 500 years of continuous operation. They are of course the world’s most respected gunmaker, and as I discovered recently in London, makers also of exceptionally fine sportswear.
 Located on chic St. James Street, right around the corner from the historic Ritz on Picadilly, Beretta’s London Emporium is one of just six such galleries worldwide.
Detouring to RM’s Ferrari Auction in Maranello, I badly needed suitable clothing to endure Italy’s infamous summer heat. So I turned to Beretta, figuring who better than Italy’s oldest firm would understand the needs of travelers to Northern Italy? Here is just one of my favorite acquisitions.
