My wife and I have made the switch from film to digital, but the limitations of ordinary point-and-shoot digital cameras are still frustrating. The modest zoom range severely limits composition.  Leica Optics - I've long been a believer in the superiority of Leica optics (that's my vintage 1932 Leica II in the photo), and the V-Lux reminds me why. The compact Leica DC Vario-Elmarit Aspherical Lens features an astonishing 12x true-optical zoom range, with superb sharpness right out to the edges. But nestled against the back, a swiveling 2.0" LCD color display also lets you preview compositions from any angle, discovering unusual perspectives you'd miss with a traditional SLR. The pivoting display also lets you evaluate and share photos in real time. Its 207,000 pixels and high contrast give sharp, accurate renderings under any lighting conditions, even bright sun.  High-Res Formats - Choose the V-Lux's 4:3 European format in any of 4 degrees of resolution, up to a stunning 3648 x 2736 pixels. Leica's traditional 3:2 format also gives you 4 choices, including 3600 x 2800 pixels. For panoramics, the 16:9 wide-screen format offers three different HD resolutions that fill your Flat Panel TV. V-Lux stores images on standard SD or new SDHC cards in JPEG Fine, JPEG Standard, or RAW format for finest detail. For rapid action, Burst Shooting even lets you freeze up to 5 images at either 2 or 1 frame(s) per second! And at just 3.3"x 5.5"x 5.6", V-Lux travels light.
 Total Package - This newest Leica digital camera is lightning fast, intuitive, powerful and flexible! With it, you can take professional-quality images under the worst lighting conditions, from far away (or Macro-close), with fully automatic operation.
