Discover the fascinating world of automotive engineering, or share your passion with the next generation with the Flat-Six Boxer Engine Construction Kit — designed in co-operation with Porsche from the original drawings! The Porsche 901 (later renamed the 911) was the first vehicle to feature this new 130-hp engine, presented in 1963 and produced from 1964 on. The origin of the Boxer name comes from the engine's sets of pistons horizontally arranged opposite each other — the pistons' strokes look like boxing gloves in motion. You'll see for yourself as you watch the original interplay of the engine mechanics through the transparent case. The 290-part kit includes everything you need to recreate the 1966 2 liter Flat-Six Engine's technical perfection in 1:4 scale. Features working belt-driven camshafts, ignition distributor, spinning cooling fan, simulated ignition and spark plug firing, and real Boxer engine sound! Like the original, this model is a rock-solid design, completely screwed together with no gluing required. Detailed assembly instructions are included in the exclusive collector's gift book, created by the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart! Requires 3 AA batteries (not included). Assembles in approximately 3 hours. Recommended for ages 14 and up. Completed model measures 17.7"x 5.7"x 12.9"; weighs 7.3 lbs. Designed in Germany.
